Poetry on general aspects of life part 4

How important is modesty? (विनयः) Vinaya is the leader among all gunas indeed. Other gunas shine because of its presence. Never never otherwise. All gunas go unappreciated when modesty is not there....

Seeing from here happiness seems to be over there (somewhere) and vice verse. In reality it is there from where it is seen....Old nectar in new bottle....

One of the crucial phases in a child's development is to hold the weight of its own head and get up or turn around. The neck and backbone gain that strength to hold the weight of the head. That inspired this verse!

Indeed, I bear the weight (of what is placed on top of me) thought the head - please bear in mind that I only bear you - hinted the neck thus to it! In fact just discovered after composing the verse that one of the names of the neck is शिरोधरा!

-------------------------

Normally the support system is not seen in the world (by others, when compared to the supported) indeed the roots of a tree lie hidden under the earth!

If I may take a share of the credit in this achievement of learning Sanskrit and writing poetry in it, without doubt, I am the last person. My family, to be precise, my father, mother, wife and kids stand ahead of me in the queue. If I say I dared to place my right foot rightly, my left foot was strongly supported by their soft palms! 🙏

-------------------------

When we keep on looking forward in life for opportunities we fail to notice those knock us from the back (and the sides)! Let it be remembered that opportunity can knock from the back even while looking forward always...

-------------------------

The above verse has to be refined for aesthetic purposes. But registering the idea in the present form. The seed 'I bear the tree in my womb' thought thus! Smiled the earth 'so what? until you come in to my womb'!

-------------------------

An infant does not learn to smile or cry. It is instinctive. Or happiness and sorrow are by birth and born naturally.

-------------------------

Salutations to Mother! Does she not protect and rear her kid when it is both inside her and outside her? This duty is like a nitya karma without a holiday! For that salutations to you.

-------------------------

One morning I was watching a large group of gypsy people living in utmost shabby conditions with scant regard for yama and niyama! Well they also survive and live longer! That sight triggered this thought on religion in general and especially the greatness of our sanatana dharma. The journey of the body from birth to death may be nourished by any religion (or even the absence of it) but the journey of the atma (liberation) is not possible without following sanatana dharma. Only the sanatana dharma can aid liberation. Such is the conviction! The first pada is taken from one of Vedanta Desika's work.

-------------------------

This is a bit of Vedanta. The Brahmasutras and Upanishads state that the Self is an agent or karta (Advaita also admits at some level). Kartrtva means agency, (being an agent subject). Karmatva means 'being an object'. That I know from sruti that I possess kartrtva but in reality, alas! I possess karmatva (being an object of action by the three gunas and more specifically by karma) karma! because of you. At best अणिकर्ता as in vyakarana!
