अर्चावतारानुभवस्तुतिः - भागः २

Lord Narasimha's
procession on hastivAhana in Triplicane. Garudagamana! after protecting your devotee Gajendra
who was struck by the crocodile, have you become Narasimha and have ascending
upon himself. You are moving about in the street of Triplicane, coming in to my
mind as well after building faith in you (as if telling indeed you had
protected Gajendra and so will I protect you as well).

Narasimha, ocean of
grace! without anger and with an agreeable face (sundarasimha), being very near
Parthasarathi, you roam about in Triplicane and in the minds of your devotees
during brahmotsava.

Had been to Kanchi to
take part in the Vasanta utsava of Lord Varadaraja, who enjoys a unique
privilege so to say of being led by one vilakshana goshthi of Divya prabandha
(Dravida Vedas) in the front and followed by another vilakshana goshthi of
Vedas. It was a very humbling experience to be amidst there very near the Lord
along with my Guru whose family is the sponsors of the festival.
'Lord Varadaraja of Kari
giri (Kanchi)! During your Vasanta utsava you are being led by the Dravida
Vedas and followed by vociferous Sruti. This person who is saluting you, though
being laghu (small), attains Gaurava by virtue of accompanying his Guru (while
saluting you)'

On Lord Varadaraja of Kanchi
on his theerthavaari utsavam (yesterday) during which he rides on a decorated
horse (vaahanam) in a befitting attire....It is a visual treat...
Varadaraja of Kanchi!
While everyone is fascinated by your glorious form on the back of the speeding
horse, and you are (like) on a hunting thinking 'whose mind shall I hunt
today', please count me as well (as a target) during your theerthavaari
utsavam....

Indeed all limbs of your
form, namely eyes, ears etc are beautiful and have to be seen and enjoyed (but
it is not possible to have a look at all of them either simultaneously or one
by one and remember - atleast by me)... Hari! What do I gain by looking at them
that are incapable of uplifting me, let me look at your feet that is my saviour
indeed! on Lord Srinivasa of mylapore!
---------------------------
At some of the temples, the idols of Lord Rama are
very attractive (of course of other deities as well). I am particularly attracted to the one with a
mandahaasa, of Mylapore Srinivasa temple,
बाहुश्च नाम ते राम! दृष्टिर्गतिश्च लोचनम् ।

Rama! Everything of yours like shoulder, name, glance,
eyes, face, gentle smile is beautiful (indeed)! He is called as Sundararaman!

Kanchipuram Varadaraja Garuda sevai is very famous,
atleast to people over this part of Tamil nadu. It fell on a Saturday this year.
I could not go but went Parthasarathy temple. Lord Varadaraja also has a
sannidhi with in the temple. This time, I chose to enter his shrine, which I
usually avoid for want of time. Lo! The moolavar gives darshan seated on a Garuda!
First time I noticed. This sloka was born!
Gajendra moksha is an important event and I draw
reference to it. Though poets of much greater calibre have appreciated Lord's
speed in protecting Gajendra, I being dull witted, taking it as slow in this
poem..
गजेन्द्ररक्षा समये न जाता

भुजे खगेन्द्रस्य सदा प्रसिद्धः?

Triplicane is called बृन्दारण्यक्षेत्रम्. Forest of Tulasi.
I am remarking 'Varada, since you thought there was a
delay while saving the elephant (due to travel) you made up your mind to be
permanently seated on Garuda in Triplicane' (so as to be ever ready to save
your afflicted devotees)
---------------------------
There was a period (many centuries back) when the
Nalayira Divya Prabandham were forgotten / lost. Sri Nathamuni, grandfather of
Sri Yamunacharya, by chance listened to a decad from Tiruvoimozhi @ Sri
Aaravamudan sannidhi, thirukkudanthai. He is also known as Aparyaptamrtah in
Sanskrit.
With His grace and the grace of Nammalwar somehow Sri
Nathamuni retrieved all of them for posterity.
This sloka is addressing both the deity and Acharya!
द्राविडाम्नायवाच्येश! लुप्तास्तद्वाचका यदा ।
तन्नाथेन किल प्राप्ताः अपर्याप्तामृत! त्वया ।। 18 ।।
द्राविडाम्नायवाच्येश the

words यदा when तन्नाथेन
through that Nathamuni किल indeed

अपर्याप्तामृत Aaravamudhe! त्वया by you
Aaravamudhe! The Lord who is praised in the dravida
Vedas! It was by you indeed that Sri Nathamuni retrieved them when they were
lost!
Better version

This sloka has been
composed mainly in saptami vibhakti (has to be ratified by scholars though)! Let
my mind be always in that famous charioteer, Parthasarathi (and Hanuman) who is
shining in the speech, mind and shoulder of Hanuman as he is carrying Him (here
in Triplicane). This evening hanumanta vahanam @ Triplicane.
This may not be in strict
accordance with traditional anushtup metre but well I am an unconventional
poet!
Originally I was planning
to pen the above sloka in मालिनी metre but for want of
time and dictionary I composed it in anushtup and shared. Now presenting in
malini metre but meaning is more or less same...

In srirangam, when I was delighting in the vicinity of Sriranganatha during his chitrai ther thirunaal
festival. Yesterday was the tenth day called as saptaavarana in which at the
end of the day's procession, the Lord arrives at Sri Ramanuja's sannidhi.
Ramanuja is brought outside who enquires 'how did the function go' and offers
tender coconuts for him to relax...The following verse kind of describes it.
