an anthology of witty poems - or I dare to call them so! :-)
Healthy doctors (therapists) and wise scholars (wisdom
being different from knowledge) are a rare breed!
।
Or that which must be found in its expected place is mostly not found there sometimes!
------------------------
This is a riddle! While the Guru repeatedly tries to
teach (place) the sishya in Brahman or in the knowledge of Brahman, sleep does
it for him easily! How?
Where does the individual soul stay during deep sleep?
The school of Vedanta says it stays in Brahman (of course still covered by
ignorance). That is why deep sleep is filled with bliss. When it wakes up, it
goes back to continue what it was doing before falling asleep, as it is still
wrapped by ignorance. Even when the student is fast asleep while the Guru is
teaching Brahma jnana, He is still in Brahman! Sushupti or deep sleep does it
for the Guru easily!
------------------------
My
dear lady Sleep! What is this of yours? It is well known that you are dear to
me. Yet you are embracing me anywhere? Be a little modest! You dont have to
show the world that you are dear to me by embracing me quite often! It is
already well known.

The following sloka is a kind of witty one, though I
do not know to which genre it belongs to!
हरेः of
Hari (Krishna) अहेः of snake (Vasuki) चापि also
पुरो front
(head) हि indeed पक्षः
side or place न जातु never
धार्यस्तु to
be occupied or held on to मनोरथार्थम्
for fulfilling desires अवाप attained
नाशं destruction
/loss धृतराष्ट्रपुत्रः Duryodhana कुलं clan (of Duryodhana as well as the asuras)च and
तस्य his
आसुरमेव asura
like (also the asuras who held on to the head of Vasuki)पूर्वम् before!
Duryodhana sat on the head side of Krishna (as he was
lying on his bed, Arjuna sat at his feet) and the Asuras held on to the head of
Vasuki though they were offered the tail side. What happened? They both
suffered because of that!
Other meaning is one should always resort to the feet
of Lord and also never approach a snake by its head!
------------------------
This one is on Vishnu wondering if he is sleeping
really. According to Puranas and other sources, He is in Yoga nidra (meditative
trance). I have a doubt!
शयनं sleeping शेषतल्पे on
snake-bed ते your वैनतेयेन
by Garuda वीजनम् fanning
प्रिया beloved
च and
पादसेवित्री massaging the feet and legs योगनिद्रा
meditative trance एव only
किं what?
Hari!
Hari! Your sleep
is on a bed called Adisesha (softest). Garuda is fanning with his huge wings.
Moreover, your legs and feet are massaged by your beloved! Come on! Is it still
yoga nidra?

Who is an established speaker? Only when people follow
(not only understand) what he or she says. Right. Let the whole world listen to
some one. But only when his family members also listen to him, he is 'THE
SPEAKER'!
Let someone's words be treated with respect in the
world over. He becomes 'THE SPEAKER' only when his words are respected in his
family also! It does not happen to anyone!
------------------------
When there is a thought on what exactly drives the
world - one of the most probable answers could be ignorance. If it is, then it
is not to be abandoned at all, as the world is what it is because of it and
also it (others ignorance) is the reason for growth of body, wealth etc of some
so called jnanis! May be termed satire!
न जातु never हेयम् to
be abandoned अज्ञानं ignorance यतो from which लोकः
world प्रवर्तते functions
केषाञ्चित् of
some ज्ञानिनां jnanis चापि
as well देहादि body
etc वर्धनम् nourishment किल indeed
Ignorance is not to be abandoned even once after it is
the reason why the world functions. Also, it is the reason behind development
(and maintenance) of body, wealth etc of some jnanis!
Most of the actions of people are sheerly out of
ignorance in the form of desire etc. Since people look for happiness outside
from external objects, they keep seeking and hence are always active. The
desire of one propels the other. If there are not many people who want a car,
car business is gone for example!
When it comes to spiritual side, because people are
ignorant and are dependent upon whom they deem as gurus, the latter exploit
them and amass wealth. Ignorance is driving both material and spiritual
business, if I put it that way! May be my temerity or ignorance which is the
reason for this act of mine! Therefore hail ignorance!
------------------------
There are many vithanda vaadis (people who make
frivolous arguments)! How do handle them? Countering them with arguments would
worsen the situation! They are too naive to understand our smile or body
movements! Silence, silence and silence only.
स्मितं a smile न not
प्रतिवादः a
counter argument न not चेष्टितं a
gesture न not अंकुशः
a goad वितण्डावादिनां for frivolous arguers अस्ति
is मौनं silence
मौनं silence
तदेव and
only that वै indeed.
Not a smile, not a
counter argument nor a signal through body language can stop people who argue
frivolously! Silence, silence and indeed only that is the goad! May be!
------------------------
For a good teacher, foolish students are a source of
pain, sometimes, if not always! If the teacher is also like them, then they are
like boons redeemed!
------------------------
There is a sloka in Sanskrit that praises a scholar -
Vidvaan sarvatra pujyate - a scholar is celebrated everywhere. The same sloka
states that a fool is celebrated only at his home - svagruhe pujyate murkhaha! In
this sloka I make use of the second phrase and bring upon a joke on myself -
hope it makes some sense!
स्वगृहे in own house पूज्यते respected मूर्खः a
fool is तस्मात् compared to him अपि even अधमः worse
person अस्ति is there वा what? कथम् how
do अहं I तु but जानीयां know
स्वगृहे in own house चापि even
अपूजितः not celebrated
A fool is celebrated in his house. Is there someone
worse than a fool? Well, how might I know? I am not celebrated even in my
house! If at all it makes some sense, it should be - I am the adhama!!! This is
just for fun. I am much (if not very much) respected in my house!
